Building homes. Strengthening communities.

Join a housing cooperative

Housing cooperatives bring people together to save, make decisions democratically and work toward secure, affordable homes.

People build stronger housing solutions together.

A housing cooperative is a member-owned and democratically controlled organization formed to improve access to affordable housing and secure land. Members pool savings and effort, share responsibility and make decisions together, with one member, one vote.

Voluntary and open membership

Membership starts with people organizing around shared housing needs. Regular savings, participation and cooperative governance help turn a common goal into practical action.

Affiliated community groups

Community groups connect residents interested in cooperative housing, savings, land access and livelihood activities. They can build knowledge and organize members as they explore forming or joining a housing cooperative.

Member cooperative societies

Housing cooperative societies are member-led organizations that pool resources, acquire or manage land, and plan housing together. Members participate in decisions, contribute according to their society’s rules and share responsibility for progress.

Shared effort can open more doors.

  • Pool regular savings to work toward land and housing goals.
  • Use collective bargaining and shared investment to reduce individual barriers.
  • Take part in democratic decisions and cooperative learning.
  • Create more opportunities for women and young people to participate in land and housing decisions.
